We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager to join a growing accounting team. This is a full-time, in office role downtown Edmonton. 

This role is responsible for managing AP processes, maintaining strong vendor relationships, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies and financial controls.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting experience, preferably within construction, and excels in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day accounts payable operations for multiple residential construction projects.
  • Review, verify, and process invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor billings, and employee expense reports.
  • Ensure timely payment of vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Monitor AP aging reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure proper coding and approval of expenses.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
  • Assist with cash flow planning and payment scheduling.
  • Prepare reports and analysis for senior management.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounts payable team members.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounts payable experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in residential construction, homebuilding, or the construction industry is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable principles and accounting procedures.
  • Experience with accounting and ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
