About The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an entry-level or junior accounting professional to become the firm's primary in-house billing and accounting resource. The successful candidate will work closely with lawyers, legal assistants, leadership, and the firm's external bookkeeper to support day-to-day billing operations.
The firm is committed to investing in the right candidate and sees significant long-term growth potential in this role. Over time, the successful candidate may assume additional accounting responsibilities currently managed by the external bookkeeper and could eventually help build and support a growing accounting function within the organization.

About The Position
Reporting to firm leadership and working closely with the external bookkeeper, the Junior Billing Assistant/Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing the firm's billing processes across approximately six lawyers and their active client files.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, reviewing, and processing client invoices.
- Managing a monthly billing volume of approximately 200 invoices.
- Coordinating billing information with lawyers and legal assistants.
- Assisting with invoice adjustments, rate updates, and billing inquiries.
- Maintaining accurate billing records and documentation.
- Supporting accounting and bookkeeping functions as required.
- Collaborating with the external bookkeeper and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient financial operations.
Must Haves
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a billing, accounting, bookkeeping, or similar role.
- Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
- Willingness to work in-office four days per week.
- Comfortable managing a steady volume of approximately 200 invoices per month.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in a professional services environment.
- Exposure to legal billing or legal accounting processes.
- CPA designation in progress or interest in pursuing a CPA career path.
- Salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
