About the Opportunity
Our client, Brownstone Insurance Managers, is one of Canada’s fastest-growing Managing General Agents (MGAs), having doubled in size since 2020 and currently managing approximately $150 million in Gross Written Premium (GWP).
They are seeking a highly analytical, commercially minded, and tech-savvy insurance professional to join the organization as part of a long-term succession and leadership strategy.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond pure underwriting and help shape the future direction of a rapidly scaling MGA platform. The successful candidate will work directly alongside senior leadership and be groomed into a future Vice President-level leadership role overseeing Canadian MGA operations.

The Opportunity

- MGA operations leadership
- Technical/analytical insurance environments
- Portfolio management or actuarial functions
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with executive leadership and senior underwriting management on operational and strategic initiatives
- Learn and absorb underwriting, portfolio, and MGA operational expertise directly from long-tenured leadership
- Analyze underwriting performance, operational workflows, and portfolio profitability
- Support modernization initiatives, reporting enhancements, and technology/AI integration strategies
- Collaborate across underwriting, operations, claims, and business development teams
- Assist with transportation, specialty, and captive-related underwriting initiatives
- Support long-term growth initiatives tied to Canadian and future U.S. expansion
- Contribute to strategic planning, operational efficiency improvements, and revenue optimization

Must-Haves
- 7+ years of Commercial Underwriting experience
- MGA experience with a strong understanding of revenue, production, and portfolio management
- Strong technology aptitude and comfort working with systems modernization and reporting initiatives
- Entrepreneurial and growth-oriented mindset
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Ability to influence teams and drive initiatives without formal authority initially
- Comfortable operating within a fast-paced, flat organizational structure
- Willingness to be hands-on operationally when required
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Direct succession path into senior leadership / future VP MGA Operations role
