The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the organization's long-term business objectives.
The Controller will lead the accounting team, oversee month-end and year-end financial activities, and ensure the timely delivery of reliable financial information to senior leadership, business partners, and other stakeholders. This role requires a combination of strong technical accounting expertise, effective people leadership, sound financial judgment, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

The Controller will lead the accounting team, oversee month-end and year-end financial activities, and ensure the timely delivery of reliable financial information to senior leadership, business partners, and other stakeholders. This role requires a combination of strong technical accounting expertise, effective people leadership, sound financial judgment, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the accounting team and oversee day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Manage the month-end close process and ensure financial statements are completed within established deadlines.
- Review monthly financial results, investigate variances, and provide analysis to management and business leaders.
- Oversee cash management, including cash flow forecasting, intercompany collections, and fund transfers.
- Manage financial reporting provided to lenders, business partners, and other external stakeholders.
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across the organization.
- Provide accounting guidance on complex and non-routine transactions in accordance with applicable GAAP.
- Lead the annual audit process, including preparation of working papers, review of audit requests, and communication with external auditors.
- Oversee corporate tax reporting and work with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings.
- Coordinate regulatory and third-party audits, including CRA reviews and business partner reporting audits.
- Support the preparation and review of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Work with business managers and senior leadership to address accounting questions and support financial decision-making.
- Oversee the company's ERP and accounting systems, including upgrades, configuration changes, and system improvements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve reporting, and automate manual activities.
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team while supporting special projects and other financial initiatives as required.
- Designated CPA
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience
- Public practice experience is an asset.
- Salary: $140,000 to $150,000
- 4 weeks’ vacation
- Discretionary bonus

- Hybrid work schedule (2 days in office)
