Sr. Buyer

We are seeking an outgoing, experienced Senior Buyer to join a dynamic procurement team supporting a large-scale mining operation on-site near Kamloops, BC for a 6-month initial contract with possibility of extension.
 
This is a hands-on procurement role suited for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and can independently manage sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and contract execution. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving procurement outcomes, managing complex sourcing activities, and supporting project and operational stakeholders across a wide range of spend categories
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including RFPs, tenders, bid evaluations, and supplier selection processes.
• Conduct negotiations and contract discussions with suppliers.
• Prepare bid analyses and recommendations for stakeholders.
• Manage procurement activities across operational and project-related spend categories.
• Prioritize competing demands and manage multiple procurement initiatives simultaneously.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Support project procurement requirements ranging from shorter-term initiatives to multi-year capital projects.
• Ensure procurement activities align with company policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.
• Proactively follow up with suppliers and stakeholders to maintain momentum and deliver results.

 
Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of procurement, sourcing, or purchasing experience in mining, oil & gas, or other heavy industrial environments.
• Strong background in RFPs, competitive bidding, bid analysis, and strategic sourcing.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience supporting project procurement and capital projects is considered an asset.
• SAP S/4HANA experience is preferred but not required; candidates with strong procurement experience and the ability to learn new systems will be considered.
• Relevant procurement designations are welcome but practical experience will be prioritized.
