Our client is part of an established international accounting and tax franchise network that has been expanding across Canada. This role will support the corporate accounting practice operations in Alberta and is intended to develop into a broader regional leadership position over time.

This is a strong opportunity for a CPA from a small or mid-sized public practice background who enjoys client management, team leadership, workflow oversight, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is hands-on, entrepreneurial, and motivated by the chance to help grow and lead a developing practice.

About the Role
The Accounting Practice Manager will oversee day-to-day practice operations, support staff, manage client service delivery, and help improve internal workflows and profitability. This person will work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in ensuring the team is well supported, deadlines are met, and clients receive a high level of service.

Longer term, this role is intended to grow into a broader regional leadership opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day accounting practice operations, workflow, deadlines, and client service delivery
  • Lead, coach, and support accounting and administrative staff
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients and resolve escalated client matters
  • Monitor staff utilization, capacity, budgets, and practice performance
  • Support process improvements, operational efficiencies, and workflow management
  • Ensure client work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with firm standards
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, staff development, and retention
  • Support client retention, service quality, and continued practice growth
Who You Are
  • CPA designated
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within Canadian public practice
  • Experience working directly with owner-managed businesses, small business clients, or private clients
  • Strong client management and communication skills
  • Leadership experience, either formal or informal
  • Comfortable mentoring staff and supporting team development
  • Strong understanding of Canadian accounting and tax principles
  • Entrepreneurial, coachable, and interested in long-term leadership growth
  • Comfortable working in a growing business where processes may continue to evolve
Nice to Have
  • Experience in a small or mid-sized public practice firm
  • Experience leading a team of accountants, bookkeepers, or administrative staff
  • Exposure to practice management, budgeting, workflow planning, or profitability analysis
  • Experience with cloud accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar tools
