The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of a distribution warehouse, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality operations. This role emphasizes leadership, continuous improvement, effective communication, and strategic planning to deliver an excellent customer experience.

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of a distribution warehouse, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality operations. This role emphasizes leadership, continuous improvement, effective communication, and strategic planning to deliver an excellent customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all day-to-day warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and upkeep of equipment and facilities.
- Set clear performance expectations and ensure team members are properly trained to meet operational goals.
- Oversee onboarding processes for new hires, including orientation, early check-ins, and ongoing performance evaluations.
- Partner with regional leadership to establish budgets and ensure the facility meets operational targets and key performance indicators.
- Maintain and enforce workplace safety programs in compliance with all applicable regulations, ensuring a clean and secure working environment.
- Execute operational plans and drive adherence to best practices; collaborate on process improvements, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with sales and cross-functional teams to ensure customer service and product quality expectations are consistently achieved.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that supports employee engagement, retention, and teamwork.
- Identify and develop high-potential employees for future leadership and cross-functional opportunities.
- Build and manage relationships with transportation providers to ensure reliable and efficient service.
- Evaluate and oversee third-party vendors supporting operations, including maintenance, facilities, and equipment services.
- Coordinate with external partners to ensure effective facility management and maintenance.
- Lead inventory control processes, including cycle counts and physical inventories, while driving initiatives to improve operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to operations, workforce, and safety.
- Oversee fleet operations and ensure adherence to local regulatory requirements.
- May manage additional operational departments depending on facility needs.
- Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environments.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, supply chain, and transportation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience managing the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, performance management, and development.
- Background in process improvement or lean methodologies is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or warehouse management systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret operational and financial reports.
- Industry-specific product knowledge is considered an asset.
