Our client, a privately owned group of companies with operations in construction services and manufacturing, is seeking an Accounting Contractor for a 6–8 month engagement. This role has the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.
This is a hands-on opportunity suited to someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves—balancing both transactional accounting tasks and higher-level financial analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Services Entity (approx. 50% of role)

Key Responsibilities
Construction Services Entity (approx. 50% of role)
This business has experienced rapid growth and requires support to strengthen its financial processes and reporting.
- Assist with “startup cleanup” of accounting processes and records
- Perform day-to-day accounting tasks, including:
- Data entry
- Invoicing
- Payroll reconciliations
- Journal entries
- Support development and improvement of:
- Financial statements
- Budgets and forecasts
- Key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Prepare financial statements and internal management reports
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to management
- Prepare and file GST and Excise tax returns
- Support ERP transition, working alongside an external implementation consultant
- Assist in maintaining and improving accounting processes during system conversion
- Strong foundation in accounting principles (CPA or working toward designation is an asset)
- Experience preparing financial statements and performing variance analysis
- Comfortable handling both junior-level tasks and more complex financial responsibilities
- Experience with ERP systems (exposure to system implementations is an asset)
- Manufacturing experience is not required, but an understanding of Work-in-Progress (WIP) is beneficial
- Strong Excel skills, including:
- VLOOKUPs
- Pivot tables
- SUMIF functions
- Self-starter who can work independently and take initiative
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a growing, evolving environment
- Willing to take ownership of both routine and value-added work
