Our client, a leading organization in the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Finance Controller to join their team in Oshawa, Ontario.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a senior finance professional with experience in a complex, operational, and capital-intensive environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in nuclear, utilities, mining, manufacturing, or a similar industry.
 
Please note: This is a fully on-site position based in Oshawa, Ontario.

  • Competitive salary of $150,000 - $170,000

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of finance and controllership professionals while serving as a key financial advisor to senior leadership.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial controls for a large and complex business unit.
  • Partner with operational leaders on capital planning, business cases, investments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, audit readiness, and risk management.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, systems, and reporting.
Qualifications
  • CPA designation or internationally recognized equivalent.
  • 8-10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience within a complex organization.
  • Previous leadership experience managing finance, accounting, or controllership teams.
  • Strong experience across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Experience partnering with senior operational/business leaders.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in nuclear, utilities, energy, mining, automotive, manufacturing, or another capital-intensive industry is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with capital planning, business cases, or major projects/investments is an asset.
