Aplin is pleased to work with our client to hire a Retention Marketing Manager to join their growing marketing team. They are a well-established B2B and DTC e-commerce business and a leader in online training and certifications.
This is a fully remote opportunity, open to candidates in Alberta or Ontario.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lifecycle or retention marketing professional who enjoys leading teams, using data to drive decisions, and improving customer engagement and retention.

The Opportunity
The Retention Marketing Manager will lead a team of three and drive retention across the customer lifecycle, including engagement, renewal, and win-back.
The team oversees lifecycle email, organic social, direct mail, reviews, and brand reputation. This role will prioritize initiatives, strengthen execution, and focus efforts on measurable business impact.
Working closely with Product, Data Analytics, Support, Traffic, CRO, and Marketing, you’ll identify churn and customer experience drivers and improve retention and engagement.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing Services, this is a highly visible role with a direct impact on customer retention and revenue.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of three marketing professionals.
  • Manage retention performance across the customer lifecycle, including engagement, renewal, and win-back.
  • Oversee lifecycle email, organic social, direct mail, reviews, and brand reputation initiatives.
  • Set priorities and ensure team efforts are focused on business impact and measurable results.
  • Review campaign plans, improve decision-making, and raise the quality of execution.
  • Use customer data, analytics, and testing to identify opportunities and improve performance.
  • Partner with Product, Support, Traffic, CRO, Data, and Marketing teams to identify and address churn drivers and customer experience issues.
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and ensure retention considerations are incorporated into broader marketing efforts.
  • Monitor performance and communicate results, risks, insights, and recommendations clearly to leadership.
  • Support the ongoing development of lifecycle marketing programs through segmentation, personalization, automation, and testing.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in lifecycle, retention, CRM, or email marketing.
  • 2+ years of people management experience, with a demonstrated ability to coach and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of customer lifecycle marketing, segmentation, and personalization.
  • Hands-on experience with email marketing platforms, marketing automation, and customer data.
  • Experience developing and optimizing lifecycle campaigns, including engagement, renewal, and win-back.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience with testing and optimization, including A/B testing and performance analysis.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience in a high-volume B2C, e-commerce, SaaS, subscription, or digital business is considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
