Our client is seeking a hands-on Prototype Engineering Technologist to support the development, fabrication, testing, and improvement of prototype parts, assemblies, and installations. This role will work closely with engineering teams to bring concepts from drawings and designs into functional prototypes while providing valuable feedback throughout the development process.

Responsibilities
  • Construct prototype parts, assemblies, and installations using engineering drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams by providing feedback on drawings, designs, and theories of operation.
  • Interpret and navigate bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Fabricate components using hand tools, power tools, fabrication equipment, and test equipment.
  • Set up and perform tests based on defined test plans, including support for emerging technologies and product development initiatives.
  • Document test results, prepare reports, and maintain accurate technical records.
  • Utilize computer systems and software including Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, and engineering documentation systems.
  • Support shop organization, maintenance, and general housekeeping activities.
  • Assist with inventory management, continuous improvement initiatives, and other technical projects as required.
Qualifications
  • Technical certificate or diploma in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 1+ years of relevant hands-on experience in a manufacturing, prototyping, testing, or engineering environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, engineering drawings, schematics, and technical details.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, design considerations, aesthetics, and ergonomic requirements.
  • Experience with warehouse/inventory systems, scientific testing methods, FMEA, maintenance practices, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement is an asset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.
