- Two Accounts Receivable professionals
- One Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable professional
- One Payroll Administrator
- One Junior Accountant
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
- Establish priorities, provide guidance, and ensure departmental objectives are achieved.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment focused on service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and cash management.
- Monitor and reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly banking transactions.
- Maintain vendor master records and vendor payment files.
- Support vendor payment processing and payment confirmations.
- Review operational transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Process customer collections, prepare credit notes, and investigate customer deductions and discrepancies.
- Reconcile customer invoices with supporting documentation, including orders, shipments, and related records.
- Review weekly temporary labour reconciliations and invoice processing.
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare financial reports, analyses, and management reporting packages.
- Coordinate year-end audit requirements and support external auditors.
- Prepare and reconcile HST filings and support other tax compliance activities.
- Work closely with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial partners.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and workflow throughout the accounting function.
- Drive process improvements within Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and invoice management processes.
- Support ongoing ERP optimization initiatives and future system enhancements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects that strengthen operational and financial performance.
- Collaborate with operational leaders and department managers to support business objectives.
- Provide financial information and analysis to support decision-making.
- Support colleagues within Finance and IT on special projects and initiatives as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Candidates with extensive accounting experience and exceptional references may be considered even if they do not possess a CPA designation.
- Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing, consumer products, food production, or distribution environment.
- Previous experience supervising accounting staff.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, audits, and tax compliance.
- Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management functions.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- ERP experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, audit-ready financial information.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, dependability, and confidentiality.
