Aplin is partnering with a well-established Canadian manufacturer serving the nuclear industry to recruit a Nuclear Quality Assurance & Document Control Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a highly regulated environment and enjoys working with technical documentation, compliance systems, audit support, and traceability requirements.

This role plays a key part in supporting the organization’s nuclear quality program, ensuring all documentation, records, and quality processes meet strict customer, regulatory, and industry standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to maintain compliance while supporting ongoing business growth.

The Opportunity This position is primarily focused on quality assurance documentation, document control, history docket preparation, traceability management, and audit support. Unlike traditional inspection roles, this opportunity is centered on documentation accuracy, quality systems administration, compliance management, and customer-facing quality records.

The selected candidate will become a key member of the quality team and will receive training and mentorship from experienced nuclear quality professionals while supporting a variety of projects within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities Document Control & Records Management
  • Maintain, update, and control quality-related documents including procedures, work instructions, specifications, drawings, forms, and records
  • Ensure document revisions follow established change control processes and are properly reviewed, approved, distributed, and archived
  • Manage electronic document control systems, ensuring version control and secure access
  • Review material test reports (MTRs), certificates, inspection records, and other quality documentation
  • Coordinate document transmittals between customers, suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing teams
  • Maintain complete history dockets and final quality documentation packages for customer delivery
Quality Assurance Support
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of quality management systems
  • Monitor compliance with quality requirements across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and supply chain functions
  • Assist with non-conformance reporting, corrective and preventive actions, and document reviews
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits and support audit preparation activities
  • Assist in supplier documentation review and verification
Nuclear Compliance & Traceability
  • Ensure documentation meets nuclear industry requirements for traceability, configuration management, and records retention
  • Maintain material traceability records, certificates of conformance, and inspection documentation
  • Support preparation of customer and regulatory documentation packages
  • Verify compliance with customer specifications, contract requirements, and applicable codes and standards
Audit & Compliance Support
  • Support customer, regulatory, ISO, and nuclear quality audits
  • Gather and organize objective evidence for audit activities
  • Assist in audit preparation and maintain audit-ready documentation at all times
  • Gain exposure to both internal and external audit processes in a nuclear manufacturing environment
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance
  • Provide guidance on document control procedures and quality system requirements
  • Act as a resource for quality documentation and compliance-related inquiries
Qualifications Required
  • Diploma or degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Technical Documentation, or a related field
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (nuclear, aerospace, defence, pressure vessel, heavy industrial, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems and compliance standards
  • Experience in document control, quality documentation, or records management
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, codes, and specifications
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred
  • Nuclear industry experience
  • Familiarity with CSA N285, CSA N299, ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, or similar standards
  • Experience in audited environments
  • Knowledge of configuration management and traceability requirements
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics Navision
  • Exposure to manufacturing, inspection, machining, or fabrication environments

  • Competitive salary: $75,000 – $80,000
