We’re partnering with a well-regarded real estate group to find a Property Accountant to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong strata accounting experience who’s looking to contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative environment with long-term development potential.
About the Opportunity
In this role, you’ll oversee the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of residential strata properties. You’ll take ownership of full-cycle accounting tasks, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting, while working closely with property managers and building residents. In this role, you’ll oversee the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of residential strata properties. You’ll take ownership of full-cycle accounting tasks, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting, while working closely with property managers and building residents. Accuracy, efficiency, and a proactive mindset will set you up for success.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and maintain accurate unit/owner data in accounting systems
- Process monthly strata fees, special levies, and owner payments
- Prepare financial statements and monthly reporting packages for strata councils
- Manage bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals
- Track budgets vs. actuals and support annual budget preparation
- Process AP for property-related expenses, including maintenance, utilities, and insurance
- Manage owner refunds, collections, and communicate regarding overdue payments
- Assist with annual audit preparation and financial year-end processes
- Coordinate with property managers on financial queries and resident communications
- Provide back-up support for other accountants as needed
- 2+ years of strata or residential property accounting experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Yardi Voyager or equivalent)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
- Detail-oriented and organized with a customer service mindset
- Salary range: $50,000–$60,000 (based on experience)
- 3 weeks’ vacation
