Our client in Downtown Toronto, ON, a leader in their field, is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President, International Taxation, to join their corporate tax team. This is a high-impact role focused on complex international tax planning, cross-border structuring, foreign affiliate oversight, and global capital efficiency initiatives. Permanent Opportunity.

  • Compensation: $200,000-$210,000 CAD + annual bonus
  • Please note, this role will be Hybrid at the client’s downtown Toronto, ON office, 3 days in-office (Tue–Thu).
  • 3 to 4 times a year, travel to the US.

Responsibilities
  • Lead international tax projects, including structuring complex cross-border transactions such as acquisitions, financings, and corporate reorganizations.
  • Develop and execute detailed tax structuring plans, identifying and resolving Canadian and international tax considerations.
  • Provide strategic oversight and coordination across global tax, finance, treasury, and legal teams in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Monitor and interpret Canadian and international tax legislation, OECD Pillar Two developments, and tax authority guidance, applying insights to complex scenarios.
  • Oversee Canadian tax compliance related to foreign affiliates, including review and management of relevant filings.
  • Manage foreign affiliate tax analysis, including surplus calculations, adjusted cost base, and excluded property.
  • Lead and manage tax authority audits.
  • Act as a senior advisor and mentor, supporting the development of team members and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of tax experience with a strong Canadian international tax focus.
  • Experience within financial services or a highly regulated environment is an asset.
  • University degree in accounting or taxation and/or professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
  • Completion of CPA In-Depth Tax Program (Parts I–III) or a Master of Taxation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional tax projects with a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax matters clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
