Aplin has partnered with a Winnipeg-based manufacturer to hire a Manufacturing Project Engineer (Junior Mechanical Engineer). Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for supporting manufacturing contracts, providing technical support, and leading the production implementation of standard and “build-to-print” products and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct manufacturing feasibility studies, cost analysis, and prepare quotations for new programs in a timely manner.
  • Develop and manage project plans, including outlining tasks, schedules, and deliverables to ensure projects stay on track.
  • Support product customization, configuration management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), manufacturing work instructions, and Gantt charts.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and production aids to support assembly processes.
  • Source and evaluate new vendors, components, and materials for product development.
  • Coordinate prototyping and testing activities with customers to validate new product designs.
  • Troubleshoot production and quality issues, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to align priorities and meet project goals.
  • Uphold departmental quality standards and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1–5 years of experience in manufacturing or product design.
  • Strong computer skills with advanced Excel proficiency and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Solid understanding of BOMs, cost structures, and labor routings.
  • Experience in tooling and fixture design.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC) is an asset.
