Aplin is recruiting for a Finance Manager opportunity with a well-established, diversified organization in South Edmonton (fully onsite position).

You'll be a trusted financial partner to operational leaders, providing meaningful insights, helping shape business decisions, and leading a team responsible for the financial health of multiple business units.

If you're a hands-on finance leader who enjoys variety, developing people, and being involved in the bigger picture, we'd love to connect.

What You'll Do
Lead Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

  • Lead and support a team of accountants and financial analysts, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, accounting policies, and reporting standards in accordance with IFRS.
  • Review financial results, investigate variances, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvements to accounting processes.
Drive Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting activities for assigned business units.
  • Work closely with your team and operational leaders to understand business performance, financial drivers, and emerging trends.
  • Provide meaningful commentary, financial analysis, and recommendations beyond the standard reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities, risks, and financial trends to support proactive decision-making.
  • Help business leaders understand how financial performance connects to operational priorities and long-term objectives.
Be a Strategic Business Partner
  • Work directly with Directors, AVPs, and operational leaders across a diverse portfolio of businesses.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support new initiatives, investments, and strategic decisions.
  • Develop financial models, business cases, and ad hoc analyses to evaluate opportunities and business performance.
  • Support operational projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted financial advisor, translating complex financial information into practical business recommendations.
Lead & Develop Your Team
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of approximately 4–5 accounting and finance professionals.
  • Establish clear expectations, support professional development, and foster a collaborative, accountable team environment.
  • Encourage continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and strong partnerships across Finance and Operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reporting processes, and overall team effectiveness.
What You Bring
  • CPA designation is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS, accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting and finance professionals.
  • Experience working with multiple business units, complex operations, or diversified organizations is an asset.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Experience supporting operational leaders with financial analysis, business cases, and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, accounting processes, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work directly with senior leadership.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to balance recurring deadlines and changing business priorities.
  • A collaborative leadership style and genuine interest in developing people and improving business performance.
