Our client, a leading Canadian law firm with a significant international legal practice, is seeking a talented Litigation Law Clerk to join their highly regarded Litigation team in Toronto. This is an excellent opportunity to join a sophisticated and collaborative practice advising clients on complex, high-value, and sensitive commercial disputes across a broad range of industries.
Working closely with experienced lawyers and legal professionals, the successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting complex litigation matters, including general commercial disputes, securities litigation, insolvency, construction, regulatory, product liability, and shareholder activism matters. Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $90,000 – $130,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Please note, this is an on-site role requiring 4 days in-office each week
- Support lawyers throughout the full lifecycle of complex commercial litigation matters
- Organize and maintain litigation files, documents, and case materials to ensure accuracy and accessibility
- Communicate with clients and lawyers to obtain relevant information and provide verbal and written updates on file status
- Summarize discovery transcripts and cross-examinations, including preparing lists of refusals and undertakings
- Assist with assembling and tracking responses to undertakings
- Prepare bills of costs and assist with other litigation-related financial documentation
- Prepare detailed charts, chronologies, document summaries, and other materials for use at discoveries, motions, and trials
- Assist lawyers and professionals across other offices with obtaining relevant documentation and court materials
- Assist with billing and administrative reporting requirements for select clients
- Conduct document review and assist with the preparation and organization of materials required for litigation proceedings
- Maintain organized and accurate files while ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met
- Provide general administrative and litigation support to lawyers and the broader legal team as required
- Law Clerk Diploma/Certificate or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 3+ years of related private practice experience, preferably within a litigation environment
- Experience supporting commercial litigation matters is considered a strong asset
- General familiarity with Ontario Superior Court rules, procedures, and filing protocols
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Experience with, or openness to learning, legal industry-related AI tools such as Harvey and Microsoft Copilot
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills
- Strong client service and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, lawyers, and internal stakeholders
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively within a fast-paced legal environment
