Actuary Associate

We are seeking a talented Actuary Associate to join our client, which is a growing insurance carrier based in Alberta and Ontario. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work on key projects related to pricing, reserving, and portfolio analytics within the property and casualty insurance sector. This is a hybrid role in their office in Toronto. 

Responsibilities:

• Lead actuarial analyses related to pricing, reserving, forecasting, and profitability for Personal and/or Commercial Lines portfolios.
• Manage actuarial projects from inception to completion, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business goals.
• Develop, validate, and refine rating models, loss models, and experience studies using internal and external data sources.
• Execute quarterly and annual reserve reviews, including assumption setting and results interpretation.
• Present actuarial findings, insights, and recommendations to senior management.
• Support regulatory and financial reporting by reviewing actuarial exhibits and ensuring compliance with standards.
• Analyze loss experience, assess rate adequacy, and monitor portfolio performance to identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance, and IT teams on strategic initiatives.
• Mentor junior team members and foster continuous improvement through process automation and analytical advancements.

Qualifications:

• 5–7 years of actuarial experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• An active ACAS designation, with ongoing progress toward FCAS.
• Strong knowledge of actuarial methods, loss modeling, credibility theory, and insurance fundamentals.
• Advanced skills in Excel, SQL, R, Python, SAS, or VBA.
