Dynamics 365 Consultant (Finance/Operations)

Our client is undertaking an ERP Optimization Assessment to evaluate and improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and value of its current ERP environment. We are seeking an experienced Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) Functional/Technical Consultant to conduct a detailed current-state assessment of D365 F&O and related solutions including Dooap (automated accounts payable).

This consultant will work with business and technology stakeholders to understand how D365 F&O is being used today, identify gaps and improvement opportunities across process, configuration, access, reporting, data, integrations, and governance, and deliver practical recommendations to optimize the organization’s ERP investment.

Key Responsibilities
1) Current-State Assessment (Functional + Technical)

• Assess the current use and effectiveness of D365 F&O across core business functions.
• Review end-to-end business processes and alignment to D365 F&O capabilities.
• Identify inefficiencies, duplications, manual workarounds, gaps, and control risks.
• Evaluate opportunities to better leverage standard D365 F&O functionality before recommending customization or additional tools.

2) Focus Areas / Modules In-Scope
The assessment includes (but is not limited to):

• Finance & Accounting
• Procurement / Purchasing
• Projects / Project accounting
• Expenses
• Asset Management
• Reporting & analytics
• Security roles / access
• Integrations & interfaces
• Licensing and system utilization
• Data usage/structure and governance
• Payroll / timesheet touchpoints
• Accounts payable, including review of Dooap workflows and touchpoints

3) Optimization Recommendations

• Identify and document improvement opportunities across:
  • Functional configuration and process design
  • Technical setup and integration patterns
  • Security role design and access governance
  • Reporting, data usage, and data structure
  • Licensing efficiency and utilization
• Provide clear, actionable guidance and recommendations as part of the ERP optimization assessment deliverables.

Required Qualifications

• Strong, hands-on experience as a Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) functional/technical consultant.
• Experience across multiple areas including Finance, Procurement, Projects, Expenses, Asset Management, Reporting, Security Roles, and Integrations.
• Experience assessing and improving process design, system utilization, reporting, controls, and governance in D365 F&O environments.
• Dooap experience (automated accounts payable tool) — must be able to assess business processes, integrations/touchpoints, access, reporting, and data usage.
• Able to translate findings into practical recommendations for both business and technical audiences.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience supporting ERP assessments/optimization engagements in public sector or municipal environments.
• Experience with licensing optimization and security role redesign in complex organizations.
• Familiarity with payroll/timesheet integrations and AP automation patterns.
