Build Your Career with One of Saskatchewan's Most Respected Manufacturing Organizations

Some opportunities offer stability. Others offer growth. This one offers both.
Our client is a well-established Saskatchewan manufacturer with a long-standing reputation for quality, innovation, and doing business the right way. For decades, they have been an industry leader, investing in their people, their products, and their communities while building an exceptional workplace where collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement are valued every day.

As they continue to grow, they are looking for an Assistant Controller who is excited to move beyond traditional accounting responsibilities and become a true business partner. This is an opportunity to work alongside an experienced leadership team, gain exposure across the entire business, and help influence financial and operational decision-making.

If you enjoy working in a collaborative environment where your ideas are welcomed, your contributions are recognized, and your career can continue to grow, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller plays an important role in supporting the organization's financial operations while partnering closely with leaders across Production, Procurement, Sales, Engineering, and other operational teams.

This role offers an excellent balance of technical accounting, financial analysis, process improvement, and operational involvement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys understanding how a business works—not just reporting on the numbers.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives, improve processes, support business decisions, and help strengthen financial reporting within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Preparing journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports, and working papers
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
  • Performing financial analysis, KPI reporting, and variance analysis
  • Supporting inventory accounting, manufacturing cost analysis, and cost control initiatives
  • Monitoring production costs and identifying opportunities to improve operational performance
  • Participating in capital asset accounting and capital project tracking
  • Working cross-functionally with operational departments to support business objectives
  • Assisting with internal and external audits
  • Supporting tax reporting and regulatory compliance
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and system efficiencies
  • Supporting ERP enhancements and automation initiatives as the business continues to evolve.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to contribute beyond the accounting function.
You will likely bring:
  • CPA designation
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong financial reporting knowledge (ASPE and IFRS)
  • Experience within manufacturing or cost accounting environments
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate effectively with individuals across all levels of the organization
  • Experience with ERP systems and an interest in process improvement
  • A continuous improvement mindset and appreciation for Lean principles
  • Experience with Canadian and U.S. tax reporting would be considered an asset.
Why You'll Love This Opportunity
This is much more than an Assistant Controller position.
You'll be joining an organization that genuinely values its people and believes great businesses are built through collaboration, trust, and continuous learning.
You'll enjoy:
  • Working for one of Saskatchewan's most respected manufacturing organizations
  • A collaborative, team-oriented culture where people genuinely enjoy working together
  • Meaningful exposure to operations and senior leadership
  • Opportunities to contribute ideas and influence decision-making
  • Career growth within a stable, successful, and expanding organization
  • The chance to make a visible impact while developing professionally
