We're recruiting for an experienced Payroll Advisor to join a collaborative team supporting a large, complex organization with approximately 2,000 employees, pensioners, and board members. You'll play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant, and customer-focused payroll services while supporting continuous improvements within the payroll function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned payroll professional who thrives in a high-volume environment, enjoys solving complex payroll issues, and has hands-on experience with Workday Payroll.

This will be a 2 month contract starting ASAP with potential for extension. Work location is a hybrid model in downtown Edmonton.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Process and validate complex payrolls, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Administer payroll transactions including hires, terminations, salary changes, leaves, taxable benefits, and special payments.
  • Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and balancing of payroll and benefit accounts.
  • Prepare and reconcile year-end payroll reporting including T4s, T4As, pension adjustments, and statutory remittances.
  • Support pension administration, monthly remittances, and reporting requirements.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees, leaders, and external agencies while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Generate payroll reports and analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies and recommend improvements.
  • Support Workday payroll administration, testing, upgrades, and system enhancements.
What We're Looking For
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is required.
  • 5-7+ years of senior-level payroll experience in a high-volume environment supporting 1,000+ employees.
  • Hands-on Workday Payroll experience, including payroll processing, reporting, troubleshooting, and system administration.
  • Experience supporting payroll system upgrades, testing, and implementations.
  • Experience administering defined benefit pension plans is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
