Interim Controller

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to play a critical role during a major ERP implementation. You will take ownership of the month-end close while supporting the transition from QuickBooks Enterprise to a cloud-based Infor ERP system. • Please note, this role is a hybrid work model (3 days at Client’s Halifax, NS office)
• 10-week contract with potential for an extension

Responsibilities

• Quickly learn the existing QuickBooks Enterprise environment and assume responsibility for day-to-day accounting operations
• Lead and support month-end close, reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting
• Prepare financial data and accounting processes for ERP migration, including mapping, validation, and implementation readiness
• Support the implementation and cutover to Infor ERP from a finance and accounting perspective
• Validate migrated financial data, including chart of accounts, coding structures, opening balances, inventory, and costing information
• Reconcile financial results between the legacy and new ERP systems, identifying and resolving discrepancies
• Partner with internal stakeholders and implementation consultants throughout the project lifecycle
• Produce and validate initial financial statements following ERP go-live while ensuring reporting accuracy
• Strengthen financial controls and maintain data integrity throughout the transition

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated experience leading or playing a key role in ERP implementations, accounting system migrations, or ERP cutovers
• Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting
• Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise (Desktop) is strongly preferred
• Experience with Infor ERP is an asset; experience implementing other major ERP systems such as Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar will also be considered
• CPA designation is preferred but not required; proven ERP implementation experience is valued more highly than designation
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and perform effectively in a transitional environment
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and guide stakeholders through organizational change
