Our client, a leading global commercial insurer, is seeking a highly experienced National Large Property Underwriting Specialist to join their growing team. This is a senior technical underwriting position focused on large, complex commercial property risks across Canada.

Compensation:
- $120,000 to $140,000 in base salary

- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of large, complex commercial property accounts across Canada
- Assess, structure, and price risks using sound underwriting judgment and technical expertise
- Analyze exposures, coverage requirements, financial data, engineering reports, and loss trends to determine risk acceptability
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokerage partners and industry stakeholders
- Participate in broker meetings, client presentations, and market-facing business development activities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to negotiate coverage terms and deliver profitable underwriting solutions
- Monitor portfolio performance, profitability, and growth objectives
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior underwriting team members
- Contribute to underwriting best practices, training initiatives, and strategic projects
- Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, regulatory developments, and emerging risks
- At least 10 years of commercial property underwriting experience, preferably within large account or national account environments
- Proven experience handling complex commercial property risks and large premium accounts
- Strong technical underwriting capabilities with the ability to independently assess challenging exposures
- Established broker relationships and strong business development skills
- Executive presence and confidence engaging with senior client stakeholders, including C-suite executives and financial decision makers
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills
- Ability to mentor and support less experienced underwriting professionals
- Professional insurance designations are considered an asset (FCIP, CIP, CRM, etc.)
- Experience within engineered property, energy, large commercial, or highly specialized property underwriting environments is highly desirable
