Our client, a leading organization in the energy sector, is seeking a Finance Controller to join their growing team in Oshawa, Ontario.
Please note that this is a fully on-site position requiring attendance in the office 5 days per week.

- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic guidance on financial management, planning, forecasting, and operational performance.
- Lead and mentor a team of 5-10 finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Oversee monthly financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and year-end close activities.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial records while maintaining strong internal controls and governance practices.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, providing proactive recommendations to support business objectives.
- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to support business planning, investment decisions, and financial performance management.
- Prepare and analyze business cases, financial models, and strategic recommendations for leadership review.
- Act as the primary finance liaison between business units and corporate finance functions, including Tax, Planning, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Audit.
- Support the implementation of financial policies, processes, and systems that align with organizational goals and best practices.
- Present financial results, forecasts, and business insights to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
- CPA designation (or internationally recognized equivalent) in good standing is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, and variance analysis within a complex organization.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, audit processes, and financial governance.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to professionally challenge assumptions and influence decision-making.
- Experience within utilities, energy, nuclear, mining, automotive, manufacturing, or other capital-intensive industries is considered a strong asset.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- CPA designation (or equivalent international designation).
- 8-10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- Leadership experience managing teams and partnering with senior stakeholders.
- Experience within utility, energy, nuclear, mining, automotive, or other capital-intensive industries.
- Experience supporting large-scale operational or project-based environments.
- Exposure to complex forecasting, budgeting, and business case development processes.
