Senior Structural Engineer – Ports & Marine Terminals
Aplin has partnered with a leading engineering and consulting organization to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer specializing in Ports and Marine Terminals. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a highly respected transportation infrastructure team delivering complex marine and waterfront projects throughout British Columbia and Western Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects including container terminals, bulk handling facilities, marine transportation infrastructure, wharves, jetties, ferry terminals, naval facilities, marinas, coastal structures, and industrial port developments.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in project delivery while supporting business growth, client development, and technical mentorship within an established multidisciplinary engineering environment.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and project oversight throughout all phases of project delivery, including planning, preliminary design, detailed engineering, tender support, construction support, and asset rehabilitation.
You will collaborate closely with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful project outcomes while contributing to the continued growth of the Ports and Marine practice.

You will collaborate closely with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful project outcomes while contributing to the continued growth of the Ports and Marine practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering design for ports, marine terminals, waterfront structures, and related infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and oversee engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Manage project deliverables while ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders throughout project execution.
- Lead project meetings and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Support proposal development, business development initiatives, and client relationship management activities.
- Mentor Engineers-in-Training and junior engineers while providing technical guidance and professional development support.
- Participate in site visits and field investigations as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in British Columbia.
- Minimum 10 years of experience delivering ports and marine terminal projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in marine structures and waterfront infrastructure design.
- Strong understanding of applicable structural design codes, industry standards, and marine design guidelines.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex projects.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and client relationship skills.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced proficiency with structural analysis and design software including SAP2000 and MathCAD.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with project scheduling and project management software.
- Familiarity with marine infrastructure design standards and industry best practices.
- A passion for marine and transportation infrastructure.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Sound engineering judgment and innovative problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
- A client-focused approach and a desire to contribute to business growth and long-term client relationships.

- Base salary ranging from approximately $128,000 to $205,000 depending on experience and location.
