Our client, a leading organization located in Alberta, is seeking a strong leader to join their Transit and Fleet team in an Assistant Manager position. The Assistant Manager, Support Services will be responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of transit shelters, bus stops, signage, terminals, and other facilities, as well as the oversight of Hostler activities to ensure service is ready and optimized each day.
The selected candidate will participate in the development of strategic plans, business plans, operational budgets, and assist in implementing effective procurement specifications, administrative directives, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee transit shelters, stops, fleet readiness, customer service, and support operations to ensure smooth delivery of services
- Collaborate with unionized employees and handle elements of collective bargaining when applicable
- Support planning, budgeting, procurement, and the overall operational strategy of the department
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to assigned team members
- Oversee and optimize training programs and technical development
- A degree or diploma in business, public administration, or a related field
- 5+ years working experience in transit operations, asset management, or a related environment
- 2+ years experience in a leadership or managerial role, with relevant experience training and onboarding teams
- Experience working in a public sector environment with unionized and non-unionized employees will be considered an asset for the position
- Completed course work in collision/incident investigation and/or training with the Canadian Urban Transit Association will be considered an asset
- A strong team player with strong written and verbal communication skills
- A valid Class two (2) driver’s licence and Q Endorsement (Air Brakes) will be considered an asset
