We have partnered with SaskMilk in search of a strategic and experienced Director, Transportation & Logistics to lead the transformation of the Western Milk Pool transportation network across Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba.
This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to shape and modernize a complex, multi-stakeholder logistics system supporting the dairy industry. The successful candidate will play a critical role in improving efficiency, reducing costs, and implementing the policies, processes, and infrastructure needed to support a high-performing transportation network.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in improving efficiency, reducing costs, and implementing the policies, processes, and infrastructure needed to support a high-performing transportation network.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the identification and implementation of opportunities to optimize the WMP transportation network
- Design and implement transportation models, policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks
- Collaborate with producers, processors, transporters, and regulators to drive system-wide improvements
- Facilitate infrastructure investments and cost-sharing initiatives, including ROI analysis
- Oversee implementation of transportation compensation model changes and other strategic initiatives
- Identify system constraints (e.g., capacity, scheduling, infrastructure) and develop solutions
- Support the selection and implementation of logistics technology to improve coordination and visibility
- Develop short-, medium-, and long-term plans to enhance network performance and resilience
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in transportation and logistics, preferably within perishable, refrigerated, or agri-food supply chains
- Proven success optimizing complex logistics networks and delivering measurable efficiencies
- Strong stakeholder management skills in multi-party environments
- Experience developing policies, SOPs, and leading system or process transformation
- Demonstrated project leadership and ability to execute large-scale initiatives
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including business case and ROI development
- Experience with logistics systems and technology implementation is an asset
- Familiarity with regulated industries and working with government stakeholders is preferred
Education
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
- CLTD or similar designation preferred
- Project management certification is an asset
