Accounts Payable Specialist – Immediate Start

We’re hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist for a 3-month contract with potential for extension. This is a great opportunity to step into a more involved AP role where you’ll support cash flow, month-end, and vendor management within a structured finance team.

This role is fully in-office downtown Edmonton to start, with flexibility for hybrid work once training is complete. Start date would be immediate.

What You’ll Do

• Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, approvals, and proper coding
• Match invoices to contracts and supporting documentation
• Prepare and execute payment runs (cheques, EFTs, wire transfers)
• Monitor AP aging and manage payment priorities to support cash flow
• Maintain cash balances and assist with cash tracking
• Prepare month-end accruals and account reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and tax requirements (GST, withholding)
• Respond to internal and vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies

What You Bring

• 3+ years of accounts payable or accounting experience
• Strong understanding of invoice processing, reconciliations, and payment cycles
• Experience with accruals, month-end support, and contract matching
• Comfortable working with accounting systems and Excel
• High attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
