Project Accountant

Aplin is pleased to partner with a well-established and growing organization operating within the heavy manufacturing sector in the recruitment of a Project Accountant. The organization supports critical infrastructure across the nuclear, energy, and industrial markets, delivering highly specialized, project-based solutions to clients across Canada. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity based in Niagara Falls.

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Project Accountant will play a key role in supporting project-based financial operations, working closely with the finance team and cross-functional stakeholders. The role is focused on ensuring accurate project cost tracking, financial reporting, and supporting decision-making across multiple active projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely tracking of project costs, budgets, and forecasts
• Manage full-cycle project accounting, including cost tracking, budget monitoring, and variance analysis
• Prepare and present monthly project-level P&L and cash flow reporting
• Strengthen billing processes, including progress billing, collections monitoring, and cash flow alignment
• Maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and ensure accurate revenue recognition
• Provide financial insights and reporting to project managers and senior leadership
• Ensure compliance with contracts, internal controls, and audit requirements
• Collaborate with project managers, operations, and project teams to support financial decision-making
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting, identifying risks and opportunities across projects
• Support the VP of Finance by enhancing financial processes and enabling focus on strategic initiatives

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a project-based environment such as manufacturing, energy, or construction
• Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
• Professional designation (CPA) preferred

Compensation and Start Date
