Aplin is pleased to partner with a well-established organization operating within the forest products and pulp and paper sector in the recruitment of a Buyer. This organization is a recognized producer of specialized paper products serving North American markets, with operations rooted in large-scale manufacturing and complex supply chain networks.
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for supporting and leading initiatives to reduce costs for materials and services, strengthen supplier relationships, and drive process improvements that enhance efficiency and productivity.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for supporting and leading initiatives to reduce costs for materials and services, strengthen supplier relationships, and drive process improvements that enhance efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Source raw materials and alternative materials to meet production requirements
- Develop, analyze, and manage supplier on-time delivery metrics
- Build, maintain, and enhance internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Support inventory optimization and reduction initiatives through procurement strategies
- Lead negotiations with suppliers and service providers
- Provide oversight to Stores Operators as required
- Post-secondary education in Business or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing or supply chain management
- SCMP designation or enrollment considered an asset
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes, contract principles, inventory management, and transportation systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Experience with ERP systems and inbound transportation
- Demonstrated experience managing RFP processes
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a time-sensitive environment
- Strong analytical capability, including pricing and financial analysis
- Experience developing vendor rebate programs considered an asset
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
