Our client is currently seeking an Accountant to join their team in Northeast Calgary. The Accounting Specialist plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization. This position assists with account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable activities, and the month-end close process. The role works closely with the broader finance team to maintain accurate financial records and support efficient accounting operations.

The successful candidate will have experience in corporate accounting and a strong understanding of reconciliations, general ledger management, and financial reporting, ideally within a multi-entity environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile various balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Record journal entries and ensure proper documentation and accuracy
  • Maintain and review general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations and investigate variances when required
  • Support accounts payable processes including vendor payments and expense processing
  • Reconcile corporate credit card statements and supporting documentation
  • Assist with indirect tax filings including GST, HST, or QST where applicable
  • Provide support for budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis as needed

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment
  • Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
  • Experience working with ERP systems or accounting software
