Based in Richmond, our client is an established retailer that has been in business for the past 10 years. They are currently looking to add a Financial Controller to their team. The ideal candidate will be a designated CPA with 7+ years of relevant experience.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for managing a team of 3+ accountants, some of the duties include but aren’t limited to:

ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for managing a team of 3+ accountants, some of the duties include but aren’t limited to:
- Oversee the full accounting cycle including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory accounting, general ledger maintenance, and cash management.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Establish and implement financial systems, processes, and reporting structures for U.S. operations.
- Work in collaboration with internal and external auditors and support annual audit processes.
- Coordinate with treasury teams to manage fund flow structures and cash movement.
- Partner with teams in Canada and other global offices to develop and maintain effective accounting policies, internal controls, and operational procedures.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of financial and regulatory reports required by auditors, authorities, and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee the implementation and ongoing management of U.S. sales and use tax processes.
- Support the corporate tax team with annual tax reporting and related documentation.
- Provide leadership and direction to the U.S. accounting team.
- Ad hoc project as needed.
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- CPA designation is an asset.
- Retail accounting experience.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); Mandarin and/or Cantonese is an asset.
- Salary: $150,000 to $180,000
- 3 to 4 weeks’ vacation
