Electrical Designer

Aplin is partnered with a global leader to hire an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Brampton, ON. This role will start as a 1 year contract with opportunity for extension or conversion to permanent.
 
About the Role:

We are seeking a Design Engineer to support avionics box design and electrical engineering initiatives within advanced robotics and space-related programs. This role involves supporting ongoing operational programs as well as new development and R&D initiatives.
You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop detailed mechanical and electrical design solutions for space and terrestrial applications.
 
Key Responsibilities:

Candidates do not need experience in every area below but should demonstrate solid CAD and drawing experience.

• Prepare drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM) for:
  • Avionics chassis
  • Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA)
  • Printed Circuit Boards (PCB)
  • Cable harness designs
• Create cable assembly drawings using NX or AutoCAD to established standards
• Interpret client requirements and develop compliant design solutions
• Design cable mechanisms for rotary interfaces
• Perform cable routing and 3D modeling
• Integrate electrical, materials, thermal, and structural design inputs into 3D models
• Support avionics chassis design with considerations for EMI/EMC, thermal, structural, mass, and volume constraints
• Develop production, assembly, and parts list drawings
• Create and maintain standard manuals, processes, and templates
• Contribute to internal CAD libraries of parts and product components

 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Systems Engineering
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking abilities
• Able to work in a fast-paced, requirement-driven environment
• Team-oriented with a high level of integrity
• Customer-focused mindset

 Assets (Nice to Have):

• Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and drawing standards
• Experience in the space or aerospace sector
• Experience with NX/Teamcenter, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MS Visio, Altium, or OrCAD

Security Requirements:
Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain:

• Reliability Status security clearance
• Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance
• ITAR compliance
