Are you an experienced payroll professional who enjoys managing complex payrolls and being the go-to expert for accuracy and compliance? We’re recruiting for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join a collaborative, well-structured payroll team. This is a permanent role offering long-term stability and a hybrid schedule (twice per month in office in Edmonton).
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys end-to-end payroll, navigating nuanced scenarios, and contributing to continuous process improvement. Public sector experience is an asset.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Process semi-monthly payroll and off-cycle payrolls with a high level of accuracy
- Manage complex employee changes including hires, terminations, leaves, and retroactive adjustments
- Maintain and update payroll data within an HRIS environment (UKG experience is an asset)
- Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure accurate, timely CRA remittances
- Administer benefits and pension programs; experience with defined benefit plans such as LAPP is an asset
- Prepare and review year-end reporting including T4s, ROEs, and audits
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, applying strong judgment and problem-solving skills
- Ensure payroll practices remain compliant with legislation and internal policies
- Partner closely with HR and payroll colleagues to improve processes and share expertise
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and discretion
- 5-7+ years of experience handling complex, end-to-end payroll
- PCP or CPM designation required (National Payroll Institute)
- Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, remittances, and reconciliations
- Experience with benefits administration and defined benefit pension plans
- Confidence navigating HRIS systems
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A collaborative mindset and strong internal customer service approach
