The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and service of vessels and high-pressure gaseous installations, ensuring customer satisfaction while upholding quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Service
- Perform preventative maintenance on cryogenic vessels and related equipment.
- Complete job reports using company-provided tablets.
- Replace components such as solenoids, relays, or fuses in motors or electrical circuits.
- Read schematic drawings and test circuits using appropriate instruments.
- Install or repair equipment, including performing brazing on pressure piping to make connections or repair leaks.
- Fabricate platforms, frames, and various types of pipe brackets.
- Respond to after-hours and weekend emergencies at customer sites as needed.
- Maintain 24/7 availability to address urgent service calls.
- Actively promote safety and quality objectives.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including the shop and service vehicle.
- Manage accurate inventory of parts and equipment.
- Follow established quality procedures.
- Implement corrective and preventive measures to address customer complaints.
- Continuously evaluate and improve work processes.
- Investigate causes of equipment failure or improper operation and determine optimal repair methods and materials to restore functionality efficiently.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Brazing and welding experience is an asset.
- Practical knowledge in fluid mechanics, instrumentation, and control.
- Experience with piping, refrigeration systems, and calibration is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Technical competence: Mastery of relevant concepts, tools, and methods; stays current with industry developments.
- Travel: Frequent travel within Southwestern Ontario; company vehicle provided.
- Work Environment: Approximately 80% of time spent outdoors at customer sites; exposure to all weather conditions.
