At WCB Alberta, we’re committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve. This is your chance to make a real impact while advancing your career.

Lead the evolution of modern infrastructure
WCB Alberta is on a multi-year journey to modernize and optimize our technology ecosystem. We’re looking for more than a technologist — we need a visionary operational leader and strategic partner to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the Business Technology Services (BTS) division.

As Director of Business Technology Operations, you’ll bridge complex technical infrastructure with high-level business strategy, ensuring our technology doesn’t just run smoothly — it drives WCB Alberta toward becoming a leader in supporting injured workers and employers across the province.

How You’ll Make a Difference Reporting directly to the CTO, you will:
  • Lead the delivery of essential services, including Application & Cloud Services, Infrastructure Platforms, Network & Telephony, Asset Management & Compliance, and Help Desk & eBusiness Services.
  • Drive innovation by implementing emerging technologies like AI, cloud automation, and virtualization to enhance service delivery and agility.
  • Communicate complex technical risks and opportunities clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure operational excellence with 99.9% platform reliability, rigorous root-cause analysis, and process optimization.
  • Develop and mentor your team, fostering accountability, upskilling opportunities, and alignment with the corporate mission.
  • Manage multi-million-dollar budgets and make strategic procurement decisions that support long-term goals.
  • Integrate cybersecurity standards and IT governance into all operations, ensuring security and disaster recovery are core components of service delivery.
Your Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7 years of senior leadership experience in complex enterprise IT environments.
  • Strong understanding of modern technology stacks (On-Prem/Cloud/SaaS, Cybersecurity, Data Platforms) with the ability to align technology solutions to business objectives.
  • Visionary leader who champions employee development, retention, and engagement.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, business-friendly manner.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of driving positive change in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and operational excellence.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
  • Flexible work schedules and hybrid work opportunities
  • Career growth opportunities and meaningful impact on Alberta communities

Note: Candidates must reside in Alberta and be able to work from our Edmonton downtown office as required.
