Our client, located in Edmonton, is seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant III to join a small, highly collaborative accounting team. This role supports multiple entities across health and wellness, pension, estate support, and family assistance programs. The environment is fast-paced, detail-driven, and values professionalism, discretion, and a calm, no-drama approach to work.

The ideal candidate prefers focused, independent work, is comfortable keeping their head down, and contributes consistently to team success without the need for constant interaction.

Responsibilities
  • Provide accounting support across multiple entities, including health and wellness, pension, estate support, and family assistance programs.
  • Manage accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, payment preparation, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions comply with internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Perform trust accounting and/or support large-scale not-for-profit accounting activities.
  • Complete reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance using QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Collaborate with team members while remaining flexible and willing to assist outside of primary responsibilities when needed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and personal information.
  • Meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications
  • College diploma in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Hands-on Accounts Payable experience.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
