Senior Accountant

Our client, a growing and innovative organization with global operations in Kanata, ON, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a 3-month contract with strong potential for extension. This role is well suited for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys hands-on work, ownership, and close collaboration with senior leadership in a dynamic, multi-entity environment.

• Work model: Fully on-site 5 days a week at the client’s Kanata (Ottawa) office.
• Compensation: $35 to $45/hour 

Responsibilities

• Lead key aspects of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for assigned entities
• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reports
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules under IFRS
• Ensure accurate accounting for complex areas such as foreign exchange and long-term balances
• Support external financial reporting, including notes and management discussion materials
• Work with external auditors and support audit requirements
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
• Provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and automation

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in a complex environment
• CPA designation completed or in progress
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS, including consolidations and multiple currencies
• Experience with complex accounting matters, reconciliations, and disclosures
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior accounting staff
• Experience with NetSuite (strong asset)
