Aplin is proud to partner with a well-respected downtown Edmonton law firm to recruit a Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal. This role provides dedicated support to a lawyer recognized among Edmonton’s Best Lawyers.
In this role you will support a busy litigation practice with matters before both the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta and the Federal Court of Canada. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who is confident managing litigation files, court filings, and procedural requirements in a fast-paced but quality-driven environment.

The Role
You will assist in the preparation, organization, and management of litigation files from inception through resolution. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing deadlines, and ensuring all court materials are accurate, compliant, and filed on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, format, file, and serve litigation documents in the Court of King’s Bench and Federal Court
  • Draft and assemble pleadings, affidavits, motion/application materials, briefs, and Books of Authorities
  • Compile and manage Affidavits of Records, disclosure, and document production
  • Manage litigation calendars, limitation dates, and court deadlines
  • Coordinate electronic and in-person court filings and liaise with court clerks, process servers, and opposing counsel
  • Prepare hyperlinked, bookmarked, and tabbed electronic court materials
  • Maintain organized physical and electronic files throughout the life of a matter
  • Provide administrative and paralegal support through hearings, applications, and trials
Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant or Paralegal
  • Demonstrated experience with the Court of King’s Bench and/or Federal Court of Canada
  • Strong knowledge of applicable Rules of Court and filing procedures
  • Advanced MS Word skills, strong PDF skills, including hyperlinking, bookmarking, OCR, and electronic court filing
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines with a high level of accuracy
  • Professional communication skills and confidence dealing with courts and counsel
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to take direction precisely
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with lawyers and team members
