Payroll Specialist

Stacey Danley at Aplin has partnered with our client, a national distributor with a Winnipeg head office, on the search for a Payroll Specialist.

As a key member of the HR team, the successful candidate will combine payroll expertise with growing HRIS skills to deliver a seamless and reliable payroll experience.

Responsibilities:

• Run full-cycle, semi-monthly payroll including adjustments, deductions, and remittances.
• Prepare Records of Employment, year-end tax documents, and payroll reports, and support audits.
• Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll regulations.
• Maintain up-to-date employee records in both our HRIS and employee files.
• Administer benefits enrolments, changes, and terminations, ensuring timely processing.
• Support HRIS configuration, updates, and testing - helping improve workflows across payroll and HR.
• Generate reports, audit data, and contribute to continuous process improvements.
• Respond to employee questions with professionalism, confidentiality, and care.
• Collaborate with Finance to reconcile payroll and support journal entries.
• Jump in to support HR initiatives and projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience administering Canadian payroll.
• Post-secondary diploma and/or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized with an ability to troubleshoot errors.
• Confident working independently and taking initiative in a fast-moving environment.
• Tech-savvy and eager to expand your HRIS expertise (experience with Ceridian Dayforce is an asset).
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communicator with a customer service mindset and a high level of discretion.
