Accounts Payable Specialist

Our client, a leading, employee-owned insurance brokerage firm, is seeking a Accounts Payables Specialist to join their Toronto, ON office. This will be a permanent opportunity!

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile monthly carrier statements for accuracy of premiums, commissions, and adjustments
• Prepare and issue carrier payments in line with agreements and policies
• Validate policy, premium, and commission data between internal systems and carrier statements
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies with carriers and internal teams
• Maintain accurate records of payments, balances, and reconciliations; support financial reporting
• Coordinate with accounting, operations, and carriers to ensure smooth payment processes
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit standards, and regulations
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate payables processes
• Validate first-time payments for accuracy and security

Qualifications:

• College or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in accounts payable, financial reconciliation, or insurance accounting
• Experience in an insurance brokerage is a MUST.
• Familiarity with broker management systems preferred
• Advanced Excel skills
