Based on the UBC campus, our client is a boutique publicly traded company looking to hire an experienced Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a designated CPA with at least five years of relevant experience.

About the Position
  • Reporting to the CFO and COO, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of full-cycle accounting. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
  • Supervise daily accounting functions, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, revenue recognition, and inventory accounting.
  • Develop annual budgets, monitor variances, and provide updated financial projections to support business planning.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
  • Manage and mentor accounting and finance staff, and oversee payroll, employee benefits, and overall cash flow management.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, prepare required documentation, and facilitate an efficient audit process.
  • Prepare and maintain shareholder loan schedules, including principal and interest tracking.
  • Oversee intercompany loan transactions and reconciliations, and review and approve bank and balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy.
  • Analyze financial metrics, KPIs, and revenue reports for accuracy and performance insights.
  • Manage accounting for share-based compensation (e.g., stock options).
Requirements
  • Designated CPA
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Public company experience is an asset.
  • 5 days in office role.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Salary: $110,000 to $130,000
  • Extended health and dental benefits
  • Discretionary bonus and stock options.
  • 3 weeks of vacation.
