Our client, an established manufacturer located on the east side of Winnipeg is seeking an experienced Senior Purchaser to join their Winnipeg-based team. This is a key role responsible for managing procurement strategies, supplier relationships, and raw material inventory to ensure smooth and cost-effective operations across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sources and procures raw materials, supplies, and services aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Forecasts production requirements and manages inventory levels using min/max principles.
  • Identifies and implements cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing or materials.
  • Conducts vendor analysis and evaluates usage data to support decision-making.
  • Negotiates pricing, contracts, and terms while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Manages roll stock usage, reconciles inventories, and expedites orders as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with import/export and cross-border regulations.
  • Evaluates supplier performance and oversees onboarding of new vendors as needed.
  • Maintains accurate procurement records, including pricing history and supplier data.
  • Participates in cross-functional initiatives focused on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains procurement policies and procedures aligned with company standards.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education or professional designation in Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a senior purchasing role from a manufacturing environment in Winnipeg.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills with sound judgment under pressure.
  • Proficiency in MRP systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, capable of prioritizing in a dynamic environment.
  • High-level analytical and critical thinking skills focused on financial and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and a proactive, hands-on attitude.
