About The Position
As a Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting the firm’s lawyers with all aspects of litigation file management. You will be responsible for:
- Opening, organizing, and closing files
- Drafting and sending correspondence, authorizations, and discovery appointments
- Managing intake of documents and file-related materials, and updating binders
- Preparing litigation documents and pleadings, including application records and Briefs of Authorities
- Scheduling mediations, examinations for discovery, trials, and client meetings while maintaining electronic calendars
- Maintaining a BF and limitation system
- Communicating frequently with opposing counsel, adjusters, and clients
- Assisting with general administrative tasks as needed
The Requirements
- Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant, preferably in commercial litigation
- Strong knowledge of BC litigation processes and court procedures
- Proficient in MS Word and Outlook
- Solid understanding of litigation procedures, court filing, and service procedures
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle high volumes of work in a fast-paced environment
- Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Compensation
- Competitive salary: $55,000–$65,000, commensurate with experience
