VP Finance

About the client
Based in Nanaimo, our client is a dynamic, family-owned, and boutique real estate developer built on an entrepreneurial foundation. They also operate across multiple industries, including automotive retail, telecommunications, marine, hospitality, entertainment, and professional services. Currently they’re looking to add a VP, Finance/CFO to their senior leadership team. The ideal candidate will be a designated CPA with 10+ years of relevant experience.

About the role
Reporting to the President, the VP, Finance will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Oversee the full-cycle accounting function for the real estate development division and act as the fractional CFO for select portfolio companies.
• Lead financial reporting, forecasting, deal structuring, and capital planning.
• Manage the complete financial lifecycle of real estate projects, from land acquisition through development, construction financing, stabilization, and disposition.
• Oversee and structure limited partnerships (LPs) and establish accounting systems, internal controls, and reporting processes.
• Lead and expand the internal finance team.
• Develop, refine, and maintain financial models and underwriting tools for ongoing project analysis and reporting.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with lenders, investors, and equity partners; oversee all financing initiatives, including CMHC-related programs.
• Prepare consolidated and project-level reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ad hoc projects as needed.

Requirements

• Designated CPA
• 10+ years of accounting experience.
• Expertise in land development and multifamily wood-frame projects.
• Familiarity with CMHC financing programs and related lending relationships.
• 5 days in office role.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary expectations: $150,000 to $200,000
