We’re hiring an Accounting Operations Supervisor to join our finance team in Brooks. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with a hybrid work model. In this role, you’ll lead day-to-day accounting operations, strengthen internal controls, and make sure financial reporting is accurate and timely. You’ll also support budget planning, audits, and help guide improvements to financial processes across the organization.

This is a hybrid position located in Brooks, AB.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee accounting systems, processes, and financial controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable, cash handling, inventory, and asset management controls.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including audited year-end statements.
  • Act as the main contact for external auditors, regulators, and government partners.
  • Support management and council with reporting, analysis, and presentations.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and backup support within the finance team.
What We’re Looking For
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience and experience in a municipal or public sector setting is required. 
  • CPA designation (or in progress) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
  • Strong skills in budgeting, financial analysis, and audit preparation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with Vadim, iCity, or CaseWare is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in procurement, risk management, or unionized environments is an advantage.
