We are partnered with a leader in the defense industry to hire an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead and develop a growing team, ensuring the organization has the necessary skills, processes, and resources to achieve its strategic objectives.

The Electrical Engineering Manager, will oversee the Electrical/Electronics Engineering function and ensure the team has the capability and capacity to meet current and future business demands. This role requires close collaboration with Engineering and Project Managers to define, manage, and accommodate project requirements.
 
The function is also responsible for how Electrical/Electronics Engineering is performed. The Manager will maintain oversight of functional processes, procedures, policies, and tools, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and process optimization.

Scope
  • Lead and manage the Electrical/Electronics Engineering team.

  • Collaborate with teams across other regions to ensure alignment of engineering processes and practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage resources for the Electrical/Electronics Engineering team.

  • Recruit and onboard team members to meet short-, medium-, and long-term project and business requirements.

  • Allocate engineering resources across multiple projects.

  • Identify training needs and support the development of staff through mentoring, coaching, and personal development plans.

  • Implement performance management, discipline, and succession planning.

  • Drive process and procedure improvements to meet current and emerging engineering requirements.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Project Managers to ensure access to appropriate technical infrastructure and tools.

  • Provide oversight for design reviews and contribute to project plans, estimates, and bids.

  • Promote positive behaviors, team engagement, and company values within the engineering function.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, with at least 5 years leading a team.

  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

  • Proven experience leading multiple medium-sized Electrical/Electronics Engineering teams.

  • Strong knowledge of Electrical/Electronics Engineering principles, ideally in complex or regulated sectors.

  • Experience across the full project lifecycle, from proposals and design to in-service support.

  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including senior management.

  • Eligible for Canadian government security clearance for controlled goods projects.
Technical Skills
  • Analog and digital design expertise.

  • DSP applications experience.

  • PCB layout and proficiency with ECAD tools.

  • FPGA design using VHDL.

  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as DOORS, UML, ERP, ECAD, and Configuration Management systems.

  • Proficient in standard office tools.
