Join a reputable and growing organization based in Toronto, Ontario! Our client is a well-established Managing General Agent (MGA) offering a wide range of insurance solutions for specialty, niche, program, and hard-to-place businesses. They’re looking for an experienced VP, Finance, to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key leadership role within a dynamic and growing organization. The ideal candidate will be a designated CPA with at least 10 years of relevant experience.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the CEO, the VP, finance will be responsible for managing a team of 5+ accountants. Some of the duties include but are not limited to:
  • Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to guide the finance and accounting functions, aligning with the company’s strategic plan.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of annual business, operating, and capital budgets; track performance, investigate variances, and drive improvements.
  • Oversee FP&A, management and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, integrity of controls, compliance with ASPE, and effective use of dashboards and KPIs.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling to support decision-making and value creation.
  • Provide strategic insights on profit drivers, cost structures, capital optimization, and growth opportunities.
  • Maintain robust financial policies and controls to protect assets and manage risk.
  • Advise leadership and the Board on major risks and oversee tax planning with external advisors to ensure compliance and minimize liabilities.
  • Manage relationships with bankers, auditors, legal counsel, and industry advisors.
  • Present quarterly financial reports to the board and lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
  • Play a key role in all M&A activities, including due diligence, valuation, deal structuring, financing, and post-acquisition integration, while refining processes and systems for future transactions.
  • Oversee accounting system implementations to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Designated CPA
  • 10+ years of accounting experience
  • Insurance experience is an asset
  • Experience in M&A transactions and delivering board presentations is an asset.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Salary: $160,000 to $180,000
  • 4 weeks of vacation
