Senior Project Manager

Aplin has partnered with a post-secondary institution located in Ottawa, Ontario to hire a Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver multiple IT projects within the ITS department. You’ll work closely with IT leadership and stakeholders to ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, following PMO standards and best practices. You’ll also help plan resources, manage vendors, report progress, and handle risks and communications.

This is a 6-month contract position with the potential for extension. The role is hybrid, requiring on-site presence at least two days per week or as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage large-scale, complex IT projects.
  
  
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  
  
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to meet project goals.
  
  
• Track progress, manage risks and issues, and report to stakeholders.
  
  
• Lead steering committees, status meetings, and communication efforts.
  
  
• Oversee project changes, quality assurance, and change management efforts.
  
  
• Ensure the right tools, methodologies, and governance are used throughout.
  
  
• Guide business case development and support innovation and transformation.
  
  
• Deliver clear, consistent reporting and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related IT field.
  
  
• PMP certification or equivalent project experience.
  
  
• 8–10 years of project/program management experience, including 5+ years on large, enterprise-level projects.
  
  
• Experience with business transformation, process improvement, and vendor management.
  
  
• Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
  
  
• Ability to manage multiple projects, lead cross-functional teams, and drive results.
  
  
• Solid understanding of project management methodologies, risk management, and change management.
  
  
• Proficiency with MS Office and project management tools.
